Twenty (20) Mission Viejo Chamber members and their guests are invited (and needed) to help volunteer as "Timers" for the prestigious - 2019 U.S. Masters Swimming Summer National Championships, August 7-11, at Mission Viejo’s Marguerite Aquatics Center (home of our very own Chamber member, The Nadadores!).
Swim meet timers have the most important job and best seat in the house. Two timers are paired up in each lane, without them the meet cannot start. One is responsible for holding a stop watch to time the swimmer’s race, while the other timer jots down the finishing time on the heat sheet. Both timers are responsible for pressing the stop button once the swimmer touches the wall. Although it is a simple job, timers are necessary to run a meet. It is a fun job that allows volunteers to see some fast racing in the first row. Volunteers will receive a shirt, snacks, water, and are promised to have a blast!
