Please take a brief moment to get to know better new Chamber member:
Jamie Haberman (owner of Class UFC Gym in Mission Viejo), Kim Toennies, and their dog Hunter traveled across the country from NYC to Mission Viejo to build their brand-new boutique gym concept, CLASS UFC GYM. It came about as a result of a chance encounter in Las Vegas with 24-Hour fitness founder/legend, Mark Mastrov, and UFC Gym President, Adam Sedlack. Several of the CLASS corporate executive members are also residents of Mission Viejo.
CLASS UFC GYM MISSION VIEJO is a 3,500 sq ft boutique gym that is currently under construction in Olympiad Plaza and is slated to open in late fall / early winter 2019 and is currently offering Founding Member Pre-Sales reduced rates. It is a gym that offers class-based, month-to-month memberships for all fitness & skill levels. The gym blends wearable technology, small-group based fitness boxing & high intensity interval training (HIIT), and no 2 classes are alike.
There are subtle nods to the UFC’s DNA, but the experience is a completely new and refreshing one: the color scheme consists of electric blues, whites and greys; you won’t find any cages here; the A/V system is on par with something you might find in a nightclub (think blacklight boxing); and there’s no physical contact. This is more of a hang-out for Adriana Lima, as opposed to say, Ronda Rousey. Although all are welcome in this community.
Jamie grew up on a farm in Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from Carnegie Mellon University, earning a B.S. in Business Administration with a Concentration in Finance. After graduation, he went on to work for PwC where he served clients on Wall Street during the 2008 financial crisis. During his first year in NYC he had $2,000 cash in his bank account, lived in a makeshift bedroom as the 3rdroommate in a 2-bedroom apartment, and inherited $250,000 worth of student loan debt after his father fell ill. This sink or swim situation pushed him to get out of debt and start his own successful solo career, where he now serves large banks and well-known organizations such as the NFL.
Kim grew up in Coronado, CA and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. She is currently a Digital Marketing Manager for a large payments processing company in NYC and has held a variety of positions on the Human Resources front. Her passions include fine food and anything that has to do with animals, particularly dogs.
Hunter is a long-haired English Cream dachshund, who actively manages his 700+ Instagram followers (@everybody_loves_hunter). His favorite snack is freeze-dried liver treats. He enjoys walks in Central Park, opening presents, and his most popular post on Instagram has 80,000 likes.
Welcome Jamie, Kim, and Hunter to the Mission Viejo Chamber of Commerce!
For the tenth consecutive year, Moulton Niguel Water District has been honored by the Government Finance Officers Association for excellence in financial reporting.
“We’re proud to once again meet the gold standard for excellence in financial reporting,” said Board President Brian Probolsky.“ Moulton Niguel will continue to uphold financial transparency and accountability for our ratepayers.”
This year marks the tenth consecutive year in which the District has received the prestigious Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, which recognizes government agencies that meet independent standards for financial transparency and fiscal accountability.
“The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment,” the Government Finance Officers Association states.
In order to qualify for the financial reporting honor, public agencies must submit their Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for a rigorous independent review by public sector financial experts. The independent review process overseen by financial statement preparers, professors, and independent auditors typically takes between four to six months to complete.
This year, the District received the highest rating possible in each category of measurement. “Taxpayers can trust Moulton Niguel to follow the highest accounting standards and adopt the best practices for fiscal accountability,” said Moulton Niguel Vice President Duane Cave.
Before being considered for the high honor, public agencies must demonstrate that the financial section of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report includes an independent auditor’s report on the fair presentation of the financial statements. The District has received multiple honors for its impeccable finances. In March, the Government Finance Officers Association awarded the District with its 2019 Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. The District also holds the coveted AAA-credit rating from Fitch Ratings and S&P Global Ratings, two of the world’s leading independent ratings agencies.
Since 1906, the Government Finance Officers Association has assisted public finance officials throughout the United States and Canada in adopting the best practices for public finances. The association represents more than 20,000 government officials at the federal, state, and local level.
Moulton Niguel Water District delivers high-quality drinking water, recycled water and wastewater services to customers in Laguna Niguel, Aliso Viejo, Mission Viejo, Laguna Hills, Dana Point, and San Juan Capistrano. A leader in conservation and environmental protection, Moulton Niguel maintains the lowest average water bill in South Orange County.
Your Unique Selling Proposition, or USP, is what clearly answers the question, “Why should I do business with you instead of your competitors?” Often translated into a tagline, the USP should be the basis for all your company’s marketing efforts. Remember, when people are deciding whether they should do business with you, there’s a good chance they’re also evaluating your competitors’ offerings. Be sure to give them a good reason to pick you!
