Another Fantastic 1-to-1 Chamber Meet Up - with My Simple Palate Owner Jaclyn Tran

2/28/2019

One the amazing benefits of participating in the Mission Viejo Chamber is the 1-to-1 meet ups.

Recently, Chamber Ambassador, John Rodriguez, met up with the owner of My Simple Palate, Jaclyn Tran (and her adorable daughter McKenzie) at the High Park Tap House.

More was learned about Jaclyn's "why" (she does what she does to help others) and her family story of health traumas which led her to becoming a passionate advocate for those suffering from and coping with Eosinophilic Disease and the Bullying that often comes with it.

Shortly, the full video interview will be posted on the Chamber YouTube channel and on our Blog. For now, enjoy the fond picture memory of the 1-to-1 appointment. In the photo, blue jeans are being worn to support "Rare Disease Day".

To contact Jaclyn for more information about Eosinophilic Disease and Bullying Prevention, please email her at mysimplepalate@yahoo.com or call (714) 585-9877.

A Message from Chamber Member San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E): "Ways to Keep Warm this Winter & Save Money"

2/26/2019

More tips from MV Chamber member SDG&E. #espsdge #missionviejo #mvchamber #missionviejochamber

Don’t get caught out in the cold. The near-freezing temperatures we are experiencing this week does not have to translate into higher heating bills.

Residents typically use three to seven times more natural gas for space and water heating during the winter months. While natural gas is the most affordable way to heat our homes, there are simple steps you can take to reduce heating costs.

To reduce your natural gas use, you can take simple steps, like setting your thermostat to 68 degrees when home and 55 degrees when not home.

Other helpful tips include:
  • Washing clothes with cold water
  • Taking shorter hot showers
  • Reducing the temperature on water heaters (The recommended setting is 120°F);
  • Running only full loads of dishes and clothes
  • Washing clothes with cold water
  • Using low-flow shower heads
  • Keeping windows and doors closed when the heater is on; and
  • Dressing warmer
  • Reverse the direction of your ceiling fan blades from counterclockwise to clockwise, so they help to push warm air down from the ceiling toward the floor.
You can easily monitor your energy use by signing up for My Account on the SDG&E website. Use the Energy Management Tool on My Account to sign up for energy alerts to receive email or text alerts when your energy use or spending goal reaches a certain limit.

WHEN you use energy this year matters. MV Chamber member SDG & E reminds us that, beginning in March 2019, residential customers will begin to switch to "Time-of-Use" pricing plans.

Prices are lower all day except between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m.  #espsdge #mvchamber #missionviejochamber #missionViejo #chambermembertips

Last evening, the Garden Grove Chamber of Commerce held their monthly mixer at the Marriott Suites Anaheim. Both Chamber members and visitors co-mingled and enjoyed an evening of networking and delicious food.

MV Chamber Board Member, John Rodriguez, and guest, Bill Clark, were invited to attend and thoroughly enjoyed meeting the Garden Grove Chamber Board members, including CEO/President Cindy Spindle, various committee members, and Board members from the Tustin Chamber as well.

We are thankful to CEO/President, Cindy Spindle and all the Garden Grove Chamber staff that made us feel so welcome and allowed us to "pick their brains" regarding many Chamber functions and events.

On Thursday, February 28th, the MV Chamber will host our inaugural Tri-Mixer, to include both the Lake Forest and Rancho Santa Margarita Chambers. We will be sure to send an invitation to our Garden Grove friends and fellow Chamber executives.
